Biography

Dan Bright grew up in New Orleans’ Florida Projects during the 1980s, one of the most violent times in the history of the city. At age 27, he was wrongfully convicted of murder and sent to the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola to be executed. A world-renowned civil rights attorney and the former lead juror on Dan’s trial helped shed light on prosecutorial misconduct behind his conviction and after nine years in prison he was exonerated.

Praise for The Story of Dan Bright:

“Gritty and raw, Bright’s narrative is as fascinating as it is disturbing for what it reveals about the dark, racist underside of the American justice system. Compelling reading.” –Kirkus

The Story of Dan Bright is a story of exoneration hard-won against a Machiavellian legal system. But it’s also the story of one man’s moral redemption as he looks back on the mistakes he made […] and looks forward to a new way of life, with newfound awareness and appreciation for those on both sides of the legal system fighting injustice every day.” –Foreword
