Fresh Delicious: Poems from the Farmer's Market

Take a memorable trip to the farmers’ market in this playful collection of twenty-one poems that will inspire readers to look at fruits and vegetables—and the whole world—in new ways. In these fresh poems, okra are “mouse-sized swords stored in fuzzy sheaths.” Purple hull peas are canoes seating “green-cheeked dark-eyed passengers.” And watch out for blueberries! They burst in your mouth “like flavor-filled fireworks.” This celebration of the power and joy of poetry includes six recipes featuring the fruits and vegetables in the book.
