Biography

A native Cajun French speaker, Brenda Mounier embraces any opportunity to share her passion for her language and culture. Uniquely inspired in her native French, she began writing in 1986 and was twice recipient of the Deep South Writers' French category sponsored by CODOFIL. Her poetry is part of a 2016 anthology, Heliotrope: French Heritage Women Create. She has participated in poetry presentations in both Louisiana and Canada, the most recent being the 2014 Congrès Mondial Acadien in New Brunswick.

The Gift of Les Cenelles in Word and Song.  A celebration of Louisiana's French language poetry tradition, past and present, featuring French Immersion students reading from the original anthology published New Orleans, 1845.
