Mouths Open to Name Her
Mouths Open to Name Her by Katie Bickham focuses finely wrought poems on the intensity of new motherhood, the relationship between mothers and their children, at what it means to carry a child--even one conceived by rape--and how the harshness of the world disrupts our innocence. The poems move chronologically from the mid-1800s to 2017 and travel geographically to places including Charleston, South Carolina; Nice, France; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Serengeti District, Tanzania; and Shreveport, Louisiana.
