A talented filmmaker and prolific writer, Joey Kent has earned many screenwriting awards including Best Screenplay from the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood. He writes about local history for Inside New Orleans magazine. His fascination with the Louisiana Hayride began as a legacy from his father and has grown exponentially as he has delved into its colorful history.

The Hayride is credited with introducing the world to Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, George Jones, and so many others. The author's father ran the show in the 1970s and 1980s.
