A Springfield, Mo. native, Steve Yates is the winner of the Juniper Prize in fiction. The University of Massachusetts Press published his collection Some Kinds of Love: Stories. Yates is the author of the novel Morkan's Quarry (2010) and has published stories in TriQuarterly, Southwest Review and many other journals. In Best American Short Stories, Richard Russo named one of Yates’s stories a distinguished story of 2009.

Nahem Yousaf teaches at Nottingham Trent University in England and serves as the chair of the school’s research committee. Yousaf has published books on George Eliot, George Orwell, Chinua Achebe, Alex La Guma, Pat Barker and Hanif Kureishi. He has also written apartheid narratives and many articles in journals including the Journal of Commonwealth Literature, Journal of American Studies, Wasafiri literary magazine and Modern Languages Forum.
